Addictions Counseling

Are you struggling to break free of an alcohol or drug addiction, or a compulsion to gamble, steal or have unhealthy sexual experiences? Do you have a family member or close friend who is struggling with any of these problems?

At A Better Way Counseling Center, we have counselors who can help you if you are struggling within yourself, in your family or in other relationships with repetitive patterns that don't work. You might just need someone to talk to, or you might need someone with a particular specialty. We have therapists who specialize in working with all of the issues mentioned above. Some of the kinds of therapy we do are couple, family and group therapy, art therapy, cognitive therapy, behavioral therapy, psychodynamic psychotherapy, gestalt therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy.

We also have therapists who specialize in working with people who have a loved one with addictions problems. This can be family or couples counseling that includes the loved one, or it can be separate from them.

Free Support Group for Family and Friends of Substance Abusers

A Better Way Counseling Center offers a free support group for family and friends of people who struggle with substance abuse or dependency. Each person that suffers from chemical dependency has a family and other loved ones that suffer as well. People in this challenging situation need and deserve encouragement and support, as well as the opportunity to share with others who understand the inherent difficulties. This group, which meets every first and third Thursday evening of the month, is intended to provide such a setting. A wide variety of relevant topics will be discussed, many of them generated by your own concerns and experiences. There is no requirement to talk after you introduce yourself. Feel free to just listen, or to talk or ask questions. Please note that family members younger than 18 may attend this support group as long as they are accompanied by a parent or guardian. This support group is guided by a professional counselor from A Better Way Counseling Center.
